Do Speed cameras take side on photos?

I was driving the other day and noticed a flash on the other side of the road, the flash went off towards the drivers side door not the front or rear of the car would this have been a speed camera and would it have got me. I believe I wasn’t speeding.
How long does it take for a fine to turn up in the mail if caught.

I pass a work zone every day and there is a speed camera by the highway. I always drive at the speed limit because I know about the speed camera and also because I am a highway worker myself. This morning, I was in the middle lane and I saw in my rear view mirror that two cars in the left lane were flying down and they triggered the camera. I saw two flashes in the rear view mirror.

Would I be in the photos too? Would I be mistaken as also speeding?

Thanks.

If there’s a speed camera in a 30mph zone, what is the absolute maximum speed a motorist can travel before they receive a speeding fine via the camera?

There’s two possible views on this:
Making the speed camera highly visible to alert the motorist, giving them many advanced warnings so they slowdown and not get caught or;

Hiding it, not giving the motorist any warnings so they get caught.

My views are they should hide it; there’s a speed limit and a law there anyway. A speed camera shouldn’t reinforce this. They should have been sticking to the speed limit anyway and not let the speed camera tell them.

i was just wondering, how can you face your own accuser when your accuser is a speed camera or red light camera? isnt that unconstitutional if you can’t exersise your right to face your accuser?

I got hit with a speed camera late last night and I was hoping that there was some odd chance that they couldn’t make out my license plates, is this possible? If not what’s a good way to get out of this?

Just asking, if anyone knows the situation in VIC, AU.
When you nominate another driver in this circumstance, do they actually check the picture taken by the speed camera to confirm the truth of your nomination?

I’ve heard and read about this alot, that if you wrap the license plate in saran wrap at night the flash from the speed camera would make the picture overexposed. If you try taking a picture of something shiny at night with a flash sometimes that thing turns out overexposed, so it got me thinking if the license plate was shiny enough would the picture turn out overexposed?

say your driving down a 2 way road with traffic going opposite ways would the speed camera always be at the left side of you ?
So there is one on the opposite side for the people going the opposite way ?

I hope that makes sense.

today i was on my way home from the post office when i saw one of those signs that display your current speed. i was going about 10 mph over the speed limit. just before i slowed down a light underneath the sign flashed a few times. is this a speed camera/speed trap? should i expect a ticket?

I think this is an urban myth, but my friend swears a nurse she knows told her it works and loads of medical type people do it.

The theory is, the speed camera cannot ‘see’ through undeveloped x-ray film placed over the car number plate.

The number plate is supposedly still visible to the naked eye, however, so if a human cop sees you he or she will not notice anything amiss.

My reason for thinking it is an urban myth is that if it was true, why don’t we hear about people doing it? There are lots of people who would be lining up to take advantage of something like this if it was true.

Her argument to that is, how would ordinary people get undeveloped x-ray film, it’s only available via medical channels and those folks are used to keeping their mouths shut!

If you have any facts, a web site, an informed opinion or just a good theory ~ please let me know.

I’d really like to win this one :-D

Please Note: I am NOT planning to try this, even if it is true!

For example, could police officers sit in a AA van and point the speed camera out of the back of the van?

the device should warn me before the speed camera starts picking up my speed and takes my photo.

i was driving down a dual carriage way at 6.30pm, it was dark and i noticed a little white speed camera van. i was doing around 80 mph i dont know if the window was open or shut. can they still catch you if the window is shut? thanks

if a truvelo speed camera is facing away from the direction your driving, and at an angle, not perfectly forward, does it capture cars on the opposite side of the roads or just those coming towards it?
